Terms & Conditions

1. VA RUN 2025 is a running event held in the city of Brunei Darussalam.

2. All participants are required to wear appropriate athletic attire suitable for a public sporting

event. This includes, but is not limited to, suitable footwear and clothing that ensures safety,

modesty, and comfort throughout the duration of the run as well as to support and preserve

Brunei’s Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) national philosophy. The organisers reserve the right to

deny participation or remove any participant from the event who is not dressed in accordance

with these guidelines, or whose attire is deemed inappropriate, offensive, or unsafe.

2.1 Participants entering the costume category must ensure that their outfits are safe,

respectful, and appropriate for a family-friendly environment. Costumes must not

obstruct vision, restrict movement, or pose a risk to the participant or others as per para

2. The organisers reserve the right to disqualify or remove any participant whose costume

is considered unsafe or offensive.

3. Participants below the age of 18 years old are required to obtain parental/guardian’s

consent and are to complete the relevant indemnity declaration form as deemed

necessary by the Organiser upon registration, failing which, the Organisers reserve the

right to refuse entry to any applicant under the age of 18.

4. Registration for the race is only confirmed upon full payment made.

5. For every successful registration for the race, B$1 will be donated to a designated charity

organisation selected by the event organisers. By registering, participants acknowledge and

agree that a portion of their registration fee will support charitable causes as part of the

event’s community impact initiative.

6. In consideration of the participant’s use of the VA RUN website, the participant agrees

to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about the participant

contained in the registration form. If at any point of time, the Organisers have grounds to

believe that such information is untrue, inaccurate, obsolete or incomplete, the

Organisers may suspend or cancel the participant’s registration without any refund of

registration fee.

7. The Organisers reserve the right to cancel VA RUN at any time without prior notice to

the participant, in which case such cancellation will be informed to the participant before

race day. If VA RUN has to be cancelled due to occurrence of any unforeseeable,unavoidable or insurmountable incident that is beyond the control of the Organisers and

which renders it impossible or unsafe to hold the event including but not limited to force

majeure and/or public health concern, there shall be no refund of fees paid and the

Organisers shall not be liable for any direct or indirect loss or inconvenience sustained

and incurred or to be sustained and incurred as a result of or arising out of the

cancellation. But the participant will still receive the Finisher Medal & Finisher Shirt.

8. The Organisers reserve the right to amend VA RUN race routes as they deem fit for

the safety of the participants and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of

the event, at any time without prior notice to the participants. For race route amendment,

every effort will be made to inform the participants prior to the race day. The Organisers

shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused due to such amendment.

9. Participants must wear the assigned bib number on the front of their running singlet/t-shirt.

Participants who are not wearing a bib number and/or who fail to wear a bib in a

visible manner will be taken off the course by officials/marshal of the event.

10. A participant who commences to run before the starting time of his/her registered

race will be disqualified.

11. Participants who do not start within 15 minutes from respective flag off will be

disqualified and for safety reasons may not be allowed to start.

12. The starting times for each category are as follows:

12.1 Half Marathon: 6:00 am

12.2 10KM: 6:15 am

12.3 5KM: 6:20 am

12.4 2KM Fun Run: 6.30 am

13. The cut off times for each category which shall be strictly enforced are as follows:

13.1 Half Marathon: 3hrs 30mins

13.2 10KM: 2hrs 50mins

13.3 5KM: 2hrs 45mins

13.4 2KM Fun Run: 2hrs 30mins

Prizes for winners are as stated in the prize list on the VA RUN official website. They are

subject to be changed, restructured or cancelled at any time by the Organisers without

giving any reason and prior notice.The “Gun Time” shall be considered to determine the winners for all categories.

14. The timing chip is a single-use, disposable item. Proper placement of the timing chip

is extremely important and the timing chips have a 99% average read success during

most races. And while every care is taken to ensure that the timing chip is of working

order when given to the participant, the Organiser shall not be held liable in the small

chance when a timing chip does not have a successful read after the race. No refund or

consolation will be given to the affected participant(s).

15. All Participants who successfully complete the race in category he/she registered for within

their cut-off times will be given a Finisher Medal upon presentation of their running bib to the

respective volunteer. This entitlement will not apply to Participants who were unable to

complete the race within their cut-off times, disqualified or did not finish.

15.1 Half Marathon: Finisher Medal, Finisher Shirt.

15.2 10KM: Finisher Medal, Finisher Shirt.

15.3 5KM: Finisher Medal, Finisher Shirt.

15.4 2KM Fun Run: Finisher Medal only.

16. Participants are eligible for:

16.1 An 80% refund if the request is made more than 6 months before trace day.

16.2 A 20% refund if the request is made more than 4 months before race day.

16.3 No refund will be issued for requests made within 45 days of race day. However, Participants

will still receive their Race Pack (excluding finisher medal and finisher shirt).

17. To all participants who add-on initials on their Finisher shirt, you will only receive it IF you

finish the race within the Cut-OFF time.

18. Participants are allowed to request change in shirt size before 1st June 2025.

19. By participating in the run event, all registered runners will be automatically entered

for a chance to win prizes during the event. Winners will be selected and announced onsite during

the sponsored prize-giving segment. To claim a prize, the selected winner must

be physically present at the time of the announcement. Failure to be present will result in

forfeiture of the prize, which will then be awarded to the next eligible winner.

The Organisers reserve the right to unilaterally add on, modify or substitute any of the

above rules and regulations of VA RUN at anytime as they deem fit without prior notice.

If there is ambiguity in any of the provisions, the Organisers shall be the sole authoritywhich has the absolute, full, final and complete power to interpret it as they deem fit.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Laws of

Brunei Darussalam and the Courts of Brunei Darussalam shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear

any dispute or claim arising hereunder.

By participating in the event, I have read and understood the rules & regulations and I

agree to participate on the understanding that, I must adhere to ALL the rules and

regulations stipulated, other rules, announcements and timelines as varies from time to

time. I consent to receiving any medical treatment which medical personnel think

necessary and appropriate during the event.

WAIVER CLAUSE: In consideration of the acceptance of my entry, I, my executors,

administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns, do hereby unconditionally and

irrevocably waive and release the organisers, the event sponsors and partners as well

as all persons, servants, contractors, agents, service providers, volunteers and agencies

connected with it from all complains, demands, claims, liabilities, proceedings, suits,

losses and/or damages of any kind whatsoever due to or relating to or arising directly or

indirectly out of my participation in the event, including without limitation, personal injury and/or death.
